SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENT:
The Smarter Balanced Field Test is an essential step toward the goal of implementing a comprehensive new statewide assessment system designed to ensure all children graduate prepared for college and careers in the global economy of the 21st century. Participation in the Field Test will give students valuable exposure to the future assessment system, and hands-on experience with the functionality of technology-enhanced test questions and performance tasks with related classroom activities. Further, participation in the Field Test will support positive changes, which have been planned to better prepare all children to successfully graduate from high school and be ready for college and careers.

Northwood will be participating in the Smarter Balanced Field Test by having our junior class take the assessment through their English class at various times from April 28th – June 6th . Students do not need to do anything to prepare for this test. Neither the students nor the school will receive the test results. The field test will be used to provide valuable information to the State regarding the structure of the assessment.  There will not be state testing for other grade levels beyond the California High School Exit Exam.

Northwood High School Athletics is proud to announce their annual Summer Skills Camp Programs. The Northwood Athletic Department continues to credit much of its athletic success to it strong summer programs. Many of the T-Wolf athletic teams have captured league and CIF championships. This athletic opportunity comes from a strong commitment by both our athletes and our coaching staff. The camps are designed to teach skills in each sport as well as proper conditioning and strength techniques.

Summer Athletic Skills Camps are open to all athletes, are purely recreational and completely voluntary. Daily attendance aids in development but is not required. Participation in the camps is not offered for credit and is not a prerequisite for equal access to participate in athletics during the school year.
